A lesson I learned about writing is never to start out with a quote. Now that the first sentence is out of the way, here is a quote I think we should all live by: “All you have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to you”. Don’t mind that it is a quote from Gandalf the Grey for a minute and think about what that means. Let’s come back to that.
Here in the great State of Michigan, much of our plights are overlooked by the greater United States. For example, Detroit has air and water problems. Many outside the State don’t understand or care enough to look deeper into the problems, but what is worse is that many here do not either. What this requires is advocates willing to “bridge the gap” between those who can make a difference, those with the knowledge, and people who are in the community to have their voices heard.
Let’s take a look at that quote again, if you really want to see that change made right here in your backyard, you can be that advocate for those who are most affected by these conditions and make a real difference. What you decide to do with your time, whether it is playing video games, advocating for science policy, or taking a ring to Mordor is ultimately up to you. We hope you join us though and help change Detroit for the better.
